Only the best

Reggie and Luke are in Hawaii right now.  Luke got accepted to University of Hawaii at Manoa and so they are checking it out, making sure he really wants to go and figuring out all the details to see if it really can happen.  They are staying with Reggie's brother and family who just happen to be there with their annual time-share lodgings.  So all of our lucky stars aligned perfectly to make this once in a life time trip possible.

A lot of people are asking why I didn't go, and aren't I jealous.  Southwest finally just started flying to Hawaii so Reggie called me one day and said he could get two tickets, if he hurried.  I told him that sounded great and the tickets should absolutely be for he and Luke, for the reasons stated above.  And I think a father-son trip would be a nice idea anyway.  I told him to take lots of pictures; besides the practicality of it all, they are going to do some fun things and I want to record this in Luke's scrapbook.

if he does go to school in Hawaii for 4 years I'm sure I will
make it there to visit him and do this trail with him

Of course in these days and times social media is like a scrapbook - a digital way to remember the best things that are happening to you.  So when Reggie goes on one business trip after another he doesn't put up pictures of the hard work he's doing 6 days a week.  He puts up pictures of the sight seeing that he sometimes gets to do and the family he sometimes gets to see on his one day off - he puts up only the best things of life.  So when you look at his facebook it is one picture after another of some amazing things - like him in front of the statue of liberty a week ago, and now a lot of pictures will be of him in Hawaii. I think these pictures will be important for him to focus on when he has to get back to real life and go on yet another trip and do more hard work to provide for his family.

SO, I am excited for Reggie and Luke.  I look forward to seeing pictures.  And in the meantime I told Reggie about some little surprises he got me for mother's day - like some night shirts I've been wanting, and some of my favorite foods that I will be selfishly eating all by myself this week.  We both laughed and laughed about that.  I also have scrapbooking stuff spread out across our bed and Samantha's bed and I am sleeping in Luke's bed.  I am like Goldilocks who likes to try out the different mattresses in our house.  And I have Mariah, Ross and Avonlea here to keep me company when I feel like being social.  (Mariah and I had fun looking online and finding the grandma paintings that I included in my last post.  She and Ross were also sweet to get me some mother's day roses).

So life is good - no jealousy required.  As we all continue to usually put only the best parts of our lives on social media I hope we can be happy for each other and keep it all in perspective.
